Even as I wake up to snow this morning, I am reminded that Easter is just around the corner. If I close my eyes, all the spring birds are still singing in the ice-covered branches, and the first daffodils of the season are peaking out through the blanket of snow. Spring is bustling in the studio, too. Easter eggs have begun selling in the shop, and I am surrounded with spring fabrics. Gone are the red plaids of winter and soft autumnal stripes of last fall. Welcome to spring!
We’ve had an unusually mild winter here in Indiana, and the cardinals (our state bird) are swimmingly happy. My studio looks out onto acres of woodland chock full of cardinals. With little to no snow bringing beauty to the landscape, I keep an eye out for the cardinals’ bright popping red against the drab colors of winter. That pop of color keeps me inspired during the day, especially when I’m in a creative rut. Cardinals have been an inspiration for many artists over the years, including these Etsy artists featured today: 1. Cardinal Canister by MaryElizabethArts; 2. Watercolor Cardinal by eastwitching; 3. Linen Pillow Cover by sarahsmiledesign; 4. Fine Art Photography by Allison Trentelman; 5. Mini Felted Cardinal by gotcrowcreations; 6. Bird Art by TheFoxandTheTeacup.
With Easter just around the corner, we are boosting production of rabbits and Easter eggs. There are already five different Easter eggs for sale in the shop, with options for boys and girls. Our pink rabbit is very popular this time of year, as well as sweet spring chicks. The chocolate bunny will be listed soon (on the cutting table as I write this post). Are you ready?
Our I Spy Bags have been welcomed into The Netherlands! Our biggest project of the new year has been to create hundreds of I Spy Bags translated into Dutch. Sold exclusively by RiverLodge.nl, a work in progress for adventurous kids by proprietor Marielle de Swart, I Spy Bags feature a list entirely in Dutch. Although we’ve sold internationally for years, this is our first translation into a foreign language. Soon customers from the Netherlands will be able to choose from hundreds of bags designed exclusively for them!
We welcome other international wholesalers, too! Please send us an email or leave a comment if you are interested in having your Those Greathouse Women products translated into a foreign language.
We are excited to announce that a new website is underway! More soon…

High Pie Supply was lucky to be featured in today’s treasuries. Check out my glass slippers and lion beads!
Kids have always had a love/hate relationship with monsters. As an adult, I find that I have a love/hate relationship with birthdays! Don’t let the stress of planning the perfect birthday party get under your skin. A monster theme works for girls or boys, and is appropriate for first birthdays and sweet sixteens alike! Adding a touch of scary will add just the right amount of excitement to your party
Start by sending the perfect invitations. I love these gender neutral ones from Pink Pickle Studios, where you can also get bag toppers and cute stickers to match!
Don’t forget to crown the birthday queen or king! Those Greathouse Women can also make custom birthday crowns with enough notice…
When your guests depart filled with cake and memories, don’t forget to send home a little monster happiness. We love these soft handmade finger puppets by Wee Knit.
There is much more monstery goodness to be had on Etsy. Enjoy!
As my kids say, he came upon a winter’s night and painted all my windows white. It was a nice morning to remember the Waldorf school we left behind when we moved here, and to share in some sparkly morning magic.
